About Trinity Village

Trinity Village has been serving our older adult community since 1972.

Our Mission, Vision & ValuesOur Philosophy

 Trinity Village

A Good Place to Live and Work

By creating a community within each housing type, surrounding community, and neighbourhood where life could be lived meaningfully

Within this community of older adult living, interdependence and collaboration of generations occur, allowing individuals to continue to live meaningful lives. Care partners of any age will help alleviate the loneliness and boredom of those residing and visiting the Village.

At the heart of our philosophy is a partnership with numerous educational institutions as we bring students into the community. These students will become natural community members through direct on-hand experiences in working with persons in a new environment where the focus is on the person rather than on a diagnosis or aging.

There are congregational areas for gardening, entertainment, playing games, and gardening, and areas where on-to-one conversations can take place to share life histories and stories.

We are a group of passionate citizens who want a better life for older adults in the Region of Waterloo. Our leaders are involved and committed to creating a community life where people have the opportunity to participate in wellbeing programs (mind, body, & soul).

Our Philosophy

Trinity Village has adopted the Eden Alternative as the guiding philosophy of care. The Eden philosophy is based on 10 principles that, when followed, provide guidance on how we can help elders continue living meaningful lives when they become too frail to live independently. It creates an environment that reduces feelings of loneliness, helplessness and boredom experienced by many elders living in care homes.

Eden provides elders with opportunities to be respected and honoured for their wisdom. It provides them with opportunities to give back to their community and to be engaged in activities they find meaningful every day. It fosters an environment where elders want to live, where families want to visit, and where staff wants to work.

Well-being is an approach to care that supports the WHOLE person, that upholds their right to a life full of purpose, connection, empowerment, and possibility… regardless of age or changing abilities.

Empowering Cultures

Empowered care professionals = Empowered elders

Empowered Organizations Say
Improved recruitment, retention, highly response teams, a shift from caregiving to care partnering, compassionate and collaborative caring relationships, well-being for all involved.

Empowered Elders Say
I’m not a victim of the healthcare system, My values are honored, I feel heard and seen, I’m a participant in my care, I have control over my life.

Empowered Employees Say
I know I make a difference, I feel more confident, We build on our strengths, I love my job, I am part of the solution, I know I make a difference, I feel more confident.

EDEN Principles

Loneliness, helplessness, and boredom are painful and destructive to our health and well-being.

A caring, inclusive and vibrant community enables all of us, regardless of age or ability, to experience well-being.

We thrive when we have easy access to the companionship we desire. This is the antidote to loneliness.

We thrive when we have purpose and the opportunity to give, as well as receive. This is the antidote to helplessness.

We thrive when we have variety, spontaneity, and unexpected happenings in our lives. This is the antidote to boredom.

Meaningless activity corrodes the human spirit. Meaning is unique to each of us and is essential to health and well-being.

We are more than our medical diagnoses. Medical treatment should support and empower us to experience a life worth living.

Decision-making must involve those most impacted by the decision. Empowerment activates choice, autonomy, and influence.

Building a collaborative and resilient culture is a never-ending process. We need to keep learning, developing, and adapting.

Wise leadership is the key to meaningful and lasting change. For it, there can be no substitute.

Support Trinity Village

On September 17th, 2022 our community came together to raise funds to reduce loneliness and ensure that Trinity Village Care Centre & Studio residents could have access to SMART Technology for a better connection with family and person-centered programming. It was a beautiful day, filled with laughter, great food, crafts, ice cream and so much more!

Our goal was to raise $25,000. We were overjoyed that we exceeded our goal and raised a total of $30,356! Thank you to our community for all your donations of time and, or money and to all our Sponsors!

This would not have been possible without YOU!

See how you can support Trinity Village
